Well, a whole 'nother year gone by and another Metal Icarus submission is here already.
This is the third in a row that i've done this drawing, which is based on the song "Metal Icarus" by Angra. as the years went on you can see that his expression has become more... cocky, if you will.
both the drawing and the song it's based on are derived from the myth of icarus and his father Daedalus. in an attempt to escape their confinement in Crete Daedalus created wings of wax and feathers to fly away from their prison. he warned his son before their flight to fly low, for the sun would melt the wax and cause him to fall.
as their journey went on, the boy grew more confident and flew higher and higher until the wax melted and icarus plumeted into the sea.

i love that myth.
